Growing with Good Neighbor

We exist to be a good neighbor and to make a
positive impact on the community.

That's why we created the

"Growing With Good Neighbor"  tote.

We've partnered with Detroit artist

Martyna Alexander to design these re-usable totes.

100% of proceeds from the tote go to Growing Places Indy and Keep Gowing Detroit.

Keep Growing Detroit's mission is to promote a food sovereign city where the majority of fruits and vegetables consumed by Detroiters are grown by residents within the city's limits. Keep Growing Detroit operates a 1.5 acre urban farm and teaching facility located in Detroit's historic Eastern market District.

Their strategic approach empowers gardeners to become engaged community leaders and food entrepreneurs, addressing the immediate needs of the community while promoting sustainable change in our food system.

Since 2009, Growing Places Indy has empowered individuals to cultivate personal, family, and community wellness through urban agriculture, access to fresh local food, and mind-body education. They are Black women-led organization with a small and diverse staff with a vision to create a more just and equitable food system.

Growing Places Indy works to create food access through farmer's markets, farming apprenticeship programs, youth programs, farm stands, other initiatives that have one common goal: to make healthy food available to all, no matter you zip code.

  • What is your name? Shalise Lee
  • What’s your position at the org? Community Impact Director
  • How long have you been with the org? Began as an apprentice with our adult Grow Getter program 6/2021. Volunteered through winter 2021 at the Winter Farmers Market and was hired on as Community Impact Director 5/2022.

  • Can you share, firsthand, how you’ve seen this organization impact the community? I have been honored to experience the impact of our partnership with SNAP and Fresh Bucks as we offer a triple match of SNAP benefits. This means our farmers market customers who receive and use SNAP can come to us and we will triple match up to $20 of their benefits. Someone requesting a $20 match will receive back $60 to use at our markets.

  • What is your favorite part about working with the org? There is not one single thing that I favor about working with GPI. I love our farm. It has been my favorite place in the world since I stepped foot here in June 2021. GPI exists to empower people through urban agriculture and focus on wellness of the mind and body. I love everything about that.
